The Sunshine Coast community is actively engaged in conservation, Landcare and Waterwatch. Many of the objectives of the various organisations involved are complementary to those of our branch. Their activities can also contribute to the shared achievement of a greater appreciation of native plants and their conservation.
Local Government (the Sunshine Coast Council) actively supports the efforts of individuals and groups through programs such as Land for Wildlife and grants for conservation projects. These programs focus on native plants for re-vegetation and land management rather than introduced species.
Several regional organisations also contribute via advocacy and lobbying with government on environmental issues, or via regional coordination of important programs such as waterway health and a range of other programs.
The following links to Community Groups, Local Government and Regional Organisations indicate the extent of relevant local activity.
